5 Simple Ways to Glorify God this Christmas

by Allison Dillaberry

We all know the real reason for the season, Christ’s birth. But, we also can get carried away with the hustle and bustle and the oh so long to do lists. We easily get sidetracked by worldly things like buying gifts and decorating.

So, here’s 5 SIMPLE things you can do that will glorify God during this special season:

1. Let your light shine for Jesus. Smile. Be Merry!

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven” (Matthew 5:16 ESV).

2. Share your testimony. People can often be down or depressed during the holidays. Sharing your testimony of God’s faithfulness in your life may just give the glimmer of hope they need.

“ ‘Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.’ And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him” (Luke 8:39 ESV).

3. Seek peace with family, friends, and strangers. Avoid arguments and fights. You can be responsible for your own actions and how you react to others. Choose peace!

“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all” (Romans 12:18 ESV).

4. Love others. God actually commands us to love others. Everyone has someone in their life who is like a prickly porcupine. Choose to love them anyway.

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8).

5. Share the real Christmas story on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day with whomever you are with.

(Luke 2: 1-20 ESV)

“ 1 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. … 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, ….20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.”

I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

With Love and Blessings,
