Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the bright colors of fall, the cool brisk, clear skies and everything pumpkin flavored. I like making fun family traditions this time of year that don’t focus on Halloween. We don’t do ghosts, goblins and jack o’ lanterns…
Yea, we are that family who turns off the lights and shuts the door on Halloween. Call us lame if you want, but we believe it is NOT Bible-based to celebrate the occult. Here’s a few scriptures that very clearly highlight that point. You can decide for yourself:
Avoid Wicked Customs Deuteronomy 18:9-13 (NKJV)
9 “When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. 13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.
Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
We are a family who likes to have fun. And we do, however, celebrate fall, family and the change of season with fun things. So, I’ve come up with a list of things to do other than celebrate goblins and things of the dead.
Fun Fall Activities
*Find a church fall festival to attend on Halloween night instead of trick or treating.
*Go to the pumpkin patch and take family photos with the kids. Bring a pumpkin home to display for fall.
*Bake pumpkin treats with the kids. If you are really motivated, use the pumpkins to make pumpkin pie or other pumpkin flavored treats like cakes and cookies.
*Go stargazing in the country on Halloween night.
*Go camping in the woods at a local campground.
*Build a fire in the backyard to roast marshmallows and make smores.
*Attend a crop maze where you can play games and enjoy fall treats like hot apple cider.
*Host a fall party with apple dunking and other fun games for the kids.
*Play flashlight tag or kick the can in the backyard on Halloween night.
*Make popcorn and eat candy while watching a movie together either at home or in the theater.
Happy Fall, Ya’ll!
Be Blessed,
