I have a friend who is in the battle of his life—fighting leukemia for every last breath.
But GOD…We already know who wins in the end, so let’s find encouragement in the victories God has already won for us.
Sometimes when the battles of life seem to last so long we get down, we become afraid and we give up hope. Sometimes the battles are ultimate…when we fight for our life against cancer, disease, and death. Sometimes we are fighting for a marriage in trouble, and sometimes we are longing for that prodigal son or daughter to return who is lost to the world.
Today, I feel God nudging me to send a little hope out into this sometimes-dark world to help us remember some of God’s promises. Whatever battle you face today, I want you to know that you are not alone. I too have faced similar battles. God has been with me through every single one, and He is with you too.
There are angels fighting for you. There are people praying for you—you may not even know who they are. And God is with you right by your side through this battle.
He promises us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. So, no matter the struggles we face, He promises us that He is right there standing next to us and that we don’t need to be afraid. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV). And since He is with you, there is no need to be afraid.
Have you ever faced a battle when you didn’t even know how to pray for yourself or for someone else, or even know what else to say? When all we can utter is a grunt or grumble…He fills in the blank for us. “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26 ESV). What an awesome God! When we are weak, He is strong.
He promises to give you hope and a prosperous future. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV). God is GOOD and His plans are GOOD and chock full of a prosperous future full of hope and peace.
He promises us that if we follow His commands that He will take us into His promise land. All we have to do is be strong and courageous and follow His path and His commandments. Easier said than done…well just meditate on this following scripture and let it melt into your mind and onto your heart. Spend a few days meditating and praying on this promise and see what happens. I DARE YOU!
“Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success[a] wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:6-9 ESV).
Lord God, I pray in your name this powerful scripture over each person who reads this that they will be encouraged not to quit, not to give up, and that heir hope will increase and that their battle will decrease as they see YOU work in and through each one of their lives. I also pray that they will NOT be afraid but have supernatural strength and courage as they face this battle. And help us to remember that You have already won this battle. Lord, we ask all of this in your Holy and wonderful name Jesus Christ. Amen.
Be Blessed,
